Send STB Events and Messages

Put a message on a customer's television, reboot their box, or send the same event to every user at once — immediately or on a schedule.

Billistra can push events straight to your customers' set-top boxes — a message on screen, a reboot, a channel-list refresh. You can send to one user, to all of your users, or to a list you pick.

Send an event to one user

  1. Go to the Customers list.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the Actions column and select Send STB Event.

Send STB Event targets exactly one box — the one belonging to the row you opened the menu on.
  3. Choose an Action such as Send a message, Reboot box or another available event.

  4. Set the TTL in seconds. This is how long the event stays queued for the box; the default is 604800 (7 days).

  5. Enable Reboot STB after OK pressed if you want the box to restart once the customer dismisses the message.

  6. Enter the message.

  7. Click Send.

TTL matters for offline boxes: a box that is unplugged only receives the event if it comes back online inside the TTL window.

Send an event to many users

  1. Go to STB Events from the left menu and click New Event.

The Events tab is also your delivery history — targets, delivered and received counts per event.
  2. Choose My Customers to reach everyone, or Specific User(s) to pick a list.

  3. For a specific list, search by MAC address and add each user. Selected users appear as chips under the search box.

Search accepts partial MAC addresses. Added users can be removed again with the × on each chip.
  4. Select the event action and set the TTL.

  5. Choose a Message template, or select Start from scratch to write your own.

Templates pre-fill the header and body — you can still edit both afterwards.
  6. Click Send Now to deliver immediately, or set a date and time under Schedule and click Schedule Event.

Messages can be plain text or HTML. Use Show HTML Preview to check the layout before sending.
